It’s time! The website of Sisters in Science is live and we’re thrilled to show you around. We see our website as a portfolio to show you what projects we’re part of, but also as a place to give you more background on our Instagram posts.
So, who are we?
Noor, Lotte and Mimi have joined forces together in January 2021 with their new Instagram platform Sisters in Science. The link to this page can be found with the button in the top right corner. The reason they started this page was to give people a real look into what a scientist is, what she or he does on a day-to-day basis, and what you can do with a chemistry background. The main goal? Breaking stereotypes around a scientist.
We all recognized at many stages in our (young) career that it can be very frustrating if you can’t see any rolemodels that look like you. This can make you question your career and demotivate you to go for your goals. Can I be a scientist, but can I also be: talkative, female, doubtful, me?
To prevent the new generation from doubting whether they are enough to be a scientist, we started this Instagram channel with some insights in our actual research, posts about what life at university is like, and some tips to help you in your career.
To the future
We’re almost 7 months into Sisters in Science and we noticed that Instagram is going towards a more video-based platform, which we really liked concerning our 30-day reel challenge, but it makes the information we share harder to find. To share our insights to more people (not everyone is into IG), we decided it was time for a website.
So, what can you expect here? Let us tell you!
